How I met Craig Charles

It was at Anglicon near Seattle. This is a con dedicated to British media, not necessarily science fiction. Craig Charles, who plays Dave Lister in “Red Dwarf,” was one of the guests of honor. He came to a panel, and the poor man had the American equivalent of Monteczuma’s Revenge. He was very pale, but was a real trooper and stayed the whole hour for the panel, graciously answering questions from the crowd. When the hour was up, he excused himself and said he REALLY had to get back to his room to rest. All-in-all, he was wonderful and quite the gentleman.

A story about WinglessAngel

When we lived in Portsmouth, NH, we decided to go to “the pit,” which I think was a sand quarry. There was water in it, and we found some styrofoam and floated out on the water. I was a weak swimmer; winglessangel was a great swimmer, but if we’d fallen in she would’ve been too small to help me. We knew if Mom ever found out what we’d done, we wouldn’t sit down for six months. Years later, in our 30s, we ‘fessed up and told her what we did that day. Even so many years later, Mom looked pissed and said pretty much what we knew then: if she’d known, she would’ve tanned our hides.

She’s a genius. And my hero, best friend, big sister, guru, boss of me. I adore her, or could you tell? She makes me laugh so hard I wet myself and gasp for breath. And she loads me up with some kickass bud. She’s smarter than I’ll ever be.

Remember the chinese fire drill at the gas station, when we looked like an overloaded clown car? You had me laughing so hard I couldn’t haul my fat ass out of the car!

Something that just happened to me

I completed the Skywarn Spotter Training, for helping report severe weather. Even though I live in the most boring part of the US as far as weather goes, dammit.

Why I want to meet Dalai Lama

As is true for many spiritual journeys, some years ago, I think the late 90s, I had an unusual dream and suddenly I had this urge to learn more about Buddhism. Not knowing where to begin, I started with some books either written by or endorsed by HH the 14th Dalai Lama, Tenzin Gyatso. One of the first ones was his autobiography, “Freedom in Exile,” a book I highly recommend to everyone. Sadly, this desire to learn Buddhism came AFTER he was in the Seattle area. I’m hoping he’ll bless us again with his kind, compassionate teachings, and as someone else mentioned, I’d be so honored if he’d bless my mala (made from a bodhi tree branch that fell naturally on its own). There’s so much I could say about this man, which wouldn’t fit here. I thank him for his teachings throughout the world, something he said may not have happened if not for China invading his country, so even that is looked at in a positive light as he helps spread Dharma to the west. May he enjoy long life and continue to teach all those who seek wisdom and light.

She cries when she laughs. Kos is the best sister in the world and she laughs at everything…very simple minded. She can even handle being the butt of jokes coz she knows she’s a big Butthead.

Love you!
